And then there is the third fixed item on the blog: Tuesday Three! I’m not going to blab on about it because tomorrow, there’ll be a post with everything I want to say about my new blogging schedule. No need for repeating myself Today’s Tuesday Three is all about nostalgia, that sweet counterpart of being stuck in the past. I love finding things that defined my past and those are exactly what I’m going to show you guys today.

1) What I read – Tiny

Words cannot describe the way these books just flash me back in time to my childhood. Every Christmas, Easter or birthday, my grandmother would give me one of these Tiny books, which explains the fact that I have quite the collection going on over here. Of course I grew older and stopped collecting them, which is why my collection isn’t complete. I would love to have them all so if you have any lying around that you don’t want anymore, let me know! I also know they exist in different countries, so if anyone has these in Italian (Cristina), Albanian (Zana), Spanish (Martita), French (Martine), English (Debbie / Emma), Indonesian (Tini), Macedonian (Mapuka), Portuguese (Anita), Slovenian (Marinka), Swedish (Mimmi), Turkish (Aysegül) or Arabian (Touline), I’d be so glad to adopt them!

Ik kan jullie echt niet uitleggen hoe deze boeken mij gewoon in een flash terug naar mijn kindertijd brengen. Met Kerst, Pasen en mijn verjaardag kreeg ik altijd een nieuw Tiny-boek van m’n grootmoeder en daardoor heb ik nu een behoorlijk grote verzameling. Natuurlijk werd ik ouder en stopte ik met verzamelen en ik heb ze dus niet allemaal. Ik zou zo graag een complete Tiny-reeks hebben dus als jullie er thuis nog liggen hebben die je niet meer wil houden, laat het mij weten! Ik weet ook dat ze in verschillende landen uitgegeven zijn dus als iemand er heeft in het Italiaans (Cristina), Albanees (Zana), Spaans (Martita), Frans (Martine), Engels (Debbie / Emma), Indonesisch (Tini), Macedonisch (Mapuka), Portugees (Anita), Sloveens (Marinka), Zweeds (Mimmi), Turks (Aysegül) of Arabisch (Touline) dan zou ik die met VEEL liefde adopteren!

2) What I listened to – Singles.

Those were the days, when we still bought singles with our allowance. Anything that even remotely sounded cool or was constantly playing on the radio. I remember the Spice Girls single “Spice up your life” being the very first cd I ever had. I still love them today, go figure… And yes, I did write my name on everything I had.

Dat waren tijden, toen we nog singletjes kochten met ons zakgeld. Alles wat ook maar een beetje cool klonk of constant op de radio was. Ik herinner mij nog perfect de dag waarop ik de Spice Girls single “Spice up your life” als mijn allereerste cd in handen kreeg. Ik vind ze vandaag nog super, kan je nagaan... En ja hoor, ik schreef echt mijn naam op alles wat ik had.

3) What I watched – Pippi Långstrump

By far my favorite tv-show ever. There was just something about the contrast between the daring Pippi Longstocking who did the craziest things and the snoozefest that was Annie. I can’t imagine any young girl my age not having heard of Pippi, she was ab fab at the time. I knew the theme song by heart and would sing it with my friends. Was I weird? I really don’t think so…

Met stip op één in het lijstje van lievelingsprogramma op tv vroeger. Er was gewoon iets leuks aan het contrast tussen de dappere Pippi Langkous die de gekste dingen deed en de saaie Annie. Ik kan mij niet voorstellen dat je als meisje van mijn leeftijd nog nooit gehoord hebt van Pippi, ze was echt supercool toen. Ik kon het liedje vanbuiten en zong het de hele tijd met mijn vriendinnetjes. Was ik raar? Ik denk het echt niet…

Didn’t make it but also colored my childhood: Polly Pocket in a seashell, fondue, viewmaster with pretty Disney images, Disney tout court, Baby G watches, Doug, the weird spiral thing that went down the stairs and of which I can’t remember the name right now, tattoo chokers, recording the hit list on tape, Samson & Gert kerstshow,… So, what’s on your nostalgia list? Bring it on! I’m so curious!

Wat de top 3 niet haalde maar mijn jeugd ook definieerde: Polly Pocket in een schelp, fondue, de viewmaster met mooie Disneyplaatjes, Disney tout court, Baby G horloges, Doug, die spiralen die je van de trap afduwde en waarvan de naam mij nu ontsnapt, tattoo nekbandjes, de ultratop opnemen op cassette, Samson & Gert kerstshow, smurfenkoeken… Wat staat er op jullie nostalgielijstje? Bring it on! Ik ben ongelooflijk benieuwd!
